The Fringe Sport Garage Series Squat Rack is a budget-friendly squat stand with a no-frills spec profile. This stand is built with 2×3 12-gauge steel, 5/8″ hardware, and Westside hole spacing.

Features & Highlights

  • Steel Size – The Garage Series Squat Rack from Fringe Sport is constructed with 2×3 12-gauge steel and it’s assembled with a bolt-together design. 2×3 is a common steel size. 12-gauge is slightly thinner than the 11-gauge used on some competing stands, which gives this rack a weight rating of around 450lbs.
  • Flat Foot Design – One of the biggest benefits of a squat stand is that you don’t have to bolt it down because of the flat foot design. This U-shaped base keeps the rack secure to the floor. During heavy sets when re-racking your bar, you may find the rack will shift slightly. This is normal for a squat stand – the overall stability of the stand is very strong and safe.
  • Plate Storage – One nice feature of this squat rack is that it comes with two vertical weight posts on the back. This not only helps with organizing your plates, but it provides additional stability to the rack.
  • Hole/Hardware Sizing – This rack uses 5/8″ hardware, which is one of the most common hardware sizes used on power racks. The rack will accommodate most of Fringe’s 2×3 Attachments/Accessories as well as some from other companies (read more in the compatibility section below).
  • Hole Spacing – The Garage Series Squat Rack offers Westside hole spacing, which is a common feature on 5/8″ racks. The holes are spaced 1″ apart through the bench zone, allowing for finer adjustments on your J-cups and safeties. This can be useful for people who are “in-between” sizes. Above and below the Westside section are holes with standard 2″ spacing between them.
  • Exterior Rack Dimensions – This rack has a total width of 49.5″ and a total depth of 46.5″, making it one of the most space-friendly racks on the market. The total height is 84.5″, which is good for most ceiling heights.
  • Pull-Up Bar – The Garage Series Squat Racks comes with a single 1.25″ diameter power-coated pull-up bar.
  • Safety Options – This stand does not come with any safety options as standard. It is highly recommended that you purchase the safety spotter arms so that you can confidently lift on the rack. These spotter arms can also allow for rack pulls and other movements.
  • No Color Options – The Fringe Sport Garage Series Squat Rack is only available in a black powder coat.

  • (2) Vertical Weight Posts

Attachment Compatibility

The Fringe Sport Garage Series Squat Rack with Pull-Up Bar is constructed with 2×3 steel and 5/8″ hardware, which is compatible with Fringe Sport’s 2×3 Attachments.

Some attachments that I think are worthy of consideration include the Landmine, the Dip Bar, and the Spotter Arms.

The landmine opens up a ton of barbell variety, the dip bar creates a portable dip station, and the spotter arms are essential for safety.

As for attachment compatibility outside of Fringe Sport, two notable places to look are Rogue Fitness and Titan Fitness. Both companies offer attachments that will fit 2×3 and 5/8″ hardware (Rogue Infinity and Titan T-3). One thing to keep in mind is that imported racks (Fringe Sport/Titan) use the metric system vs. the imperial system on USA-made racks (Rogue). This means that hole spacing will be slightly shorter. If you find an attachment that has two pins (or a single pin with a second hitch pin) then it may not fit properly. Single-pin attachments tend to work fine.

What They’re Saying at Fringe Sport

The Fringe Sport Squat Rack with Pull-Up Bar receives very positive feedback from users. With an average rating of 4.8/5, here are some of the things people have said at fringesport.com.

Positive

  • “I never write reviews, but I felt compelled. Super stable, well-made, incredibly versatile and the powder coating looks and feels great. The rack is the perfect size and height for in-home use, but does not feel small or compromised in any way. Works so well you just don’t think about it when in use. I just wish I discovered this rack earlier!”
  • “The 85″ pull up bar is like the Goldilocks of heights. Many of the racks I looked at built for the home were only 70-75″ which would put the bar low enough that I’d have to bend over to do pull ups, but the 90+” heights on the industrial racks meant smacking my head on the garage ceiling. This 85″ height is perfect! As far as a rack goes I love the close together holes in the lower portion, it allows me to perfectly position the safety arms (which work great!). When adding weight to the horns I can flail around on the pull up bar (I think they are called kipping pull ups) and it doesn’t move or shake or tip in any way. I do find that in my garage the rack will slide a little bit if I come in too hard when re-racking a squat or a bench–but permanently bolting it down isn’t an option where I live. Best part is the footprint is small enough that I can still get my car into the garage!”
  • “I bought this squat rack to use in my Physical Therapy clinic. It works perfect! Its stable enough to use the pull up bar, easily adjusts to accommodate different sized people and easy to put together. I highly recommend this product.”
  • “I wasn’t sure if I made the right move after I made the purchase but once I put it together it was everything Fringe said it would be. It is sturdy and takes up minimal space. I can do my squats, presses, pull-ups, and banded mobility/exercises. Assembly was quick and easy for one person.”
  • “I purchased this pull-up bar last week online and used it this morning. That’s how good the shipping is. It’s also a quality item that was super easy to put together. You won’t find one for this quality at a better price.”
  • “I just got my rack and it looks great. I wanted a good quality piece that feels sturdy, and that’s what I got. I heard fringe has good customer service and they definitely do. Overall it’s a great rack for my workout room, I would recommend to friends.”

Critical

  • “Great squat rack, but can be a little wobbly so I suggest weighing it down with something like sand bags. Put it together in 20-30 mins alone and it’s solid.”
  • “This is a solid rack for the money. It is pretty sturdy, though it does get a bit wobbly when you have more than 300lbs loaded on the bar. It would be great to have a better weight holder attachment engineered into it but all in all it is good for my garage gym needs.”
