Rogue ES-1 Echo Squat Stand 2.0

The Rogue Echo Squat Stand 2.0 is Rogue’s most economical squat stand. This stand was recently upgraded to a 2×3 construction, which gives it attachment compatibility with the Infinity line. It also includes 5/8″ hardware and 2″ hole spacing.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly squat stand and you don’t need a pull-up bar, the ES-1 is a strong option.

Read more below.

Features & Highlights

  • Steel Size – The ES-1 Squat Stand from Rogue is a part of their Echo lineup. Where it differs from traditional Echo racks is that it offers 2×3 11-gauge steel on the uprights instead of 2×2. The base consists of 2×2 construction, however.
  • Flat Foot Design – One of the biggest benefits of a squat stand is that you don’t have to bolt it down because of the flat foot design. This U-shaped base keeps the rack secure to the floor. During heavy sets when re-racking your bar, you may find the rack will shift slightly. This is normal for a squat stand – the overall stability of the stand is very strong and safe.
  • Hole/Hardware Sizing – This rack uses 5/8″ hardware, which is a common hardware size used on power racks. The rack will accommodate most of Rogue’s Infinity Attachments/Accessories as well as some from other companies (read more in the compatibility section below). This stand does not include side holes, which may limit some attachments and/or configurations.
  • Hole Spacing – The ES-1 offers 2″ hole spacing throughout, which is common. This allows most users to find a comfortable starting position with their lifts. It differs from the Rogue S-1 in that the S-1 offers Westside spacing.
  • Exterior Rack Dimensions – A benefit of a squat stand is that it offers a smaller footprint than most other racks. This rack has a total width of 48″ and a total depth of 48″. In terms of the actual uprights, the outside width is 47″, which is common for 2×3 racks. This gives you more room to cleanly un-rack and re-rack your bar without concern of clipping the uprights with the plates on the bar. For instance, Rogue’s 3×3 racks have a 49″ outside upright width, which makes a bar sit 2″ tighter to the uprights. The total height of this squat stand is only 72″, which makes it a great option for anyone with short ceiling clearance.
  • Safety Options – This stand does not come with any safety options as standard. It is highly recommended that you purchase the safety spotter arms so that you can confidently lift on the rack. These spotter arms can also allow for rack pulls and other movements.
  • No Color Options – The Rogue ES-1 is only available in Rogue’s standard matte black powder coat.
  • Made in America – The ES-1 is made in Ohio.

What’s Included in the Box

The Rogue Echo Squat Stand 2.0 includes several pieces as standard:

  • (2) Infinity J-Cups with UHMW Lining
  • (1) Flat Foot Base
  • (2) 70″ Uprights (72″ total height)

Optionally, you can purchase a barbell directly on the product page, which comes with a free pair of HG collars.

Attachment Compatibility

The Rogue Echo Squat Stand 2.0 is constructed with 2×3 steel and 5/8″ hardware, which is compatible with Rogue’s Infinity Attachments.

Here you can add additional accessories to your rack or you can upgrade the ones that come standard with the ES-1.

Some attachments that I think are worthy of consideration include the Monolift, the Socket Pull-Up Bar, the Matador, and the Spotter Arms.

The monolift eliminates the squat walk-out and makes bench setup much easier, the socket pull-up bar is an improvement over the standard bar, the Matador creates a portable dip station, and the spotter arms are essential for safety.

As for attachment compatibility outside of Rogue Fitness, two notable places to look are Titan Fitness and Fringe Sport. Both companies offer attachments that will fit 2×3 and 5/8″ hardware. One thing to keep in mind is that imported racks use the metric system vs. the imperial system on USA-made racks. This means that hole spacing will be slightly shorter. If you find an attachment that has two pins (or a single pin with a second hitch pin) then it may not fit properly. Single-pin attachments tend to work fine.

What They’re Saying at Rogue Fitness

The Rogue ES-1 Echo Squat Stand 2.0 receives positive feedback from users. With an average rating of 4.8/5, here are some of the things people have said at roguefitness.com.

Positive

  • “I was missing my squats as my gym was closed due to COVID. Finally decided to get this and it is perfect. Just the right size and is heavy duty for anything I need it for–squats, deadlifts, push press. Definitely recommend this as you won’t be disappointed. Good price point and great quality!”
  • “I bought this about a month ago. I absolutely love it and the price is very reasonable. It has a 1,000 lbs weight capacity. I love this rack and my squat game is on point now. Very easy to put together. Anything Rogue is quality.”
  • “I chose the squat stand over a rack to give me flexibility to move my gym to the basement with low ceilings during the winter months. No bells and whistles but it is easy to assemble and is built solid as you would expect.”
  • “Great squat stand. I was not on a budget but it was useful for what I needed with limited space (bench press/ back squats)”
  • “Assembly was a breeze. It only took me about 15 minutes to put together with a socket wrench and channel locks. Even though it’s a relatively lightweight, “budget” option, it’s still very sturdy and stable – basically the Rogue quality you’d expect without any extra bells and whistles. With safety arms, I feel 100% confident doing my heavy squat and bench work out of it. If you’re short on space and/or money, I HIGHLY recommend this squat stand.”
  • “Everything you need from a squat/bench rack. Easy to assemble, it probably took me 10 min.”

Critical

  • “My only quibble is that the plastic feet almost all cracked when I put them on. Maybe the instructions weren’t clear enough about how to do that, or they aren’t as high quality as the rest of the stand. It’s still a great piece of equipment to have in the garage – has really opened up my training options.”
