Features & Highlights
- Stainless Steel – Stainless steel is excellent at preventing rust and it provides a true raw feel. While it is one of the more expensive options, it is arguably the best one available. Aside from the oxidation resistance and excellent feel, stainless steel also looks fantastic.
- Aggressive Knurling – The knurling on the Ohio Power Bar is considered to be one of the best. It has a deeply volcanoed pattern that is fairly aggressive, but not as much as something more mountainous. It’s a great all-around powerlifting knurl. The stainless steel finish also produces an excellent feel since there are no applied coatings to interfere with the knurling.
- 29mm Shaft – The 29mm shaft on the Rogue KG Stainless Steel Power Bar is very rigid – ideal for the big 3.
- IPF Knurl Marks – This bar offers single powerlifting knurl marks spec’d to IPF requirements.
- Tensile Strength – The Stainless Steel KG Edition OPB has a 200,000 PSI tensile strength, which is consistent with their other stainless offerings, but less than the 205,000 PSI on their other Ohio Power Bar variants. Still, 200k is plenty.
- Grooved, Hard Chrome Sleeves – This version of the OPB offers hard chrome sleeves with a grooved pattern that tends to keep plates on the better better when collars aren’t used. As compared to a smooth sleeve, a grooved sleeve will be louder.
- Thin Collars – The unique thing about the KG version of the Ohio Power Bar is that it offers a thinner collar, which provides a longer loadable sleeve length. This bar has a sleeve length of 16.875″ vs. 16.25″ on the LB version. One thing to consider, however, is that this places the plates closer to the rack, which increases the chances of you hitting the rack when racking/unracking.
- Bushings – The bar offers a bronze bushing rotation system, which is very common with a power bar.
- Center Knurl – This bar includes a center knurl in the same knurl pattern as the rest of the bar.
- Strong Warranty – This bar offers a lifetime warranty.
- Made in America – The OPB is made in Columbus, Ohio.
What They’re Saying at Rogue Fitness
The Rogue KG Stainless Steel Power Bar receives very positive feedback from users. With a 4.9/5 average rating at roguefitness.com, here are some of the things people have said:
Positive
- “I was looking and waiting for this bar to pop up for so long. The price might be high compared to other bars, but it is so worth it. The knurling feels just right and provides a lot of grip without even using chalk. Not only is it 20KG, to help prepare for powerlifting competitions, but it is also stainless steel, which will last a long time and feels the best, compared to other coats. This is the center piece and holy grail of my workout equipment because it feels right and does everything perfectly.”
- “Purchased this bar after researching multiple stainless barbells from Ivanko, Vulcan, Rep, etc. Definetly made the right choice, build quality is excellent and ready to put in many great workouts with this powerhouse.”
- “The quality and finishing is outstanding. The knurling is great also!”
- “This bar is great for presses and squats, has no whip and perfect diameter makes it feel very steady while pressing. Knurl is aggressive, comparing to other bars and not comfy for new lifters but wearing gloves solves it; still I wouldn’t trade this aggressive knurl, it’s one of a kind bar. I bench with suicide grip and this bar is a blessing. I like stainless still so was waiting long for it be available, well worth the wait. Came fast and packaged well. Strongly recommend for presses, but dead lift better get another one.”
- “The bar itself is one of the best bars I’ve ever used. The grip is quite aggressive (which I like, even if I use hook grip), and there is almost no whip. I pulled about 220kg with this bar using hook grip and I noticed the following: it left my thumbs painful but not destroyed; coming off the floor and putting it back did not show any loose sleeves; very solid stiffness. Also for squats the bar is amazing. It grips nicely but firmly on my back and I don’t notice much movement of the bar on my back either (not even when it was a serious grinder). I would say that chalk is probably not required.”
Critical
- “I wish Rogue would offer a smooth sleeve option. It seems that the grooves make the plates slide when I want them to stick and stick when I want them to slide. The noise is annoying too, but that’s not a major issue.”
